Obituary of Sgt. Eric O. Meier

Eric O. Meier, a Sergeant with the Town of Crawford Police Department for over 25 years, passed away on September 17, 2015 while on duty. He was 51 years old. The son of Albert O. Meier, of Windsor, Colorado and Erika Scheuermann of Pine Bush, NY, he was born on January 16, 1964 in Ithaca, NY. Eric was a proud graduate of Pine Bush High School Class of 1982. He came back to serve on the Board of Education in 2002 where he still served as a Board member. He was a lover of the outdoors and all its natural beauty. He was a hard worker full of energy and love of life. He felt that he could affect a positive change in those who he encountered and anyone who may need a bit of encouragement. He was there when anyone needed him and was loved by many. Eric was an avid sportsman and was a member of the Walden Sportsman's Club and its newly elected Ranger Officer. He loved the hunting and fishing life and gardening and enjoyed those times shared with Jo Ann. He was the current President of the Town of Crawford PBA and will be greatly missed by his family. To his wife Jo Ann, he was her best friend, her love, and her life. He leaves behind his wife, the love of his life, Jo Ann Schneider, sons Jacob and Curtis and his wife Alexandra, brother Fritz Meier and his wife Gretchen along with their children Tess and Cole; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Sharon and Emil Schneider; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shirley and Paul Whipple and their children Zachary, Kevin and Brian; brother-in-law Kenneth Schneider and his children Jessica and Arik, half brothers Jason and Dustin Meier and his former wife Robin. Visitation will beheld on Monday September 21st 2015 from 1-4 and 6-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd. Pine Bush, NY. Funeral services will be offered on Tuesday, September 22nd 2015 at the funeral home at 11:00am. Interment will take place in New Prospect Cemetery.
